THE PALACE MUSEUM

The Palace Museum, historically and artistically one of the most comprehensive Chinese museums, was established on the foundation of the palace that was the ritual center of two dynasties, the Ming and the Qing, and their collections of treasures. Designated by the State Council as one of China's foremost protected monuments in 1961, the Palace Museum was also made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987......

THE SUMMER PALACE

The initial construction of the Summer Palace began in 1750. Artisans reproduced the garden architecture styles of various palaces in China. It was ransacked, together with the Old Summer Palace in 1860 by French and British troops during the second Opium War. In 1888, Empress Dowager Cixi diverted 30 million taels of silver, said to be originally designated for the Chinese navy, into the reconstruction and enlargement of the Summer Palace......

THE BBEIJING NATIONAL SATADIUM

The Beijing National Stadium, also known as the bird's nest will be the main track and field stadium for the 2008 Summer Olympics and will be host to the Opening and Closing ceremonies. The stadium is 330 metres long by 220 metres wide, and is 69.2 metres tall. The 250,000 square metre (gross floor area) stadium is to be built with 36 km of unwrapped steel, with a combined weight of 45,000 tonnes. The stadium will cost up to 3.5 billion yuan (422,873,850 USD/ 325,395,593 EUR).

The National Aquatics Center, also known as the Water Cube which located in the Olympic Park will be the main natatorium for the 2008 Summer Olympics and will become one of the symbolic bulidings of 2008 Olympic Games. he area of construction land of the National Aquatics Center is 62950 square metres while the overall area of constructiong land is 65000 to 80000 square metres......
